Minister Issues Instruction on Prevention, Control of COVID-19 During Mandalika MotoGP
Minister of Home Affairs Muhammad Tito Karnavian issued Instruction Number 08 of 2022 on the prevention and control of COVID-19 during the hosting of Mandalika MotoGP at the Pertamina Mandalika International Street Circuit, West Nusa Tenggara province, this year.
The Ministry’s Director General for Regional Administration Safrizal ZA stated that the regulation aims to control the spread of COVID-19 before, during, and after the event.
The Instruction, which is valid until March 21, 2022, states to limit the number of spectators to a maximum of 100,000 people, with a maximum capacity of 10 percent for festival classes.
All spectators are also required to have a full dose of vaccination. For spectators outside of Lombok island, it is required to test negative for COVID-19 (D-1 PCR test). In addition, screening will be carried out by optimizing the use of the PeduliLindungi application.
Meanwhile, for spectators from Lombok island, a health check is carried out by showing a vaccine certificate and a negative PCR result (2 x 24 hours) or an antigen test (1 x 24 hours).
“The PCR test and full dose vaccination are not only required for spectators, but also for all racers, crew, and officials,” Safrizal said, as quoted from the Ministry’s website, Monday (02/07).
The Instruction also states that it is required for the regional government to achieve at least 80 percent vaccination coverage for first and second doses. In addition, the regional government shall expedite the booster vaccination at least one week before the event.
Also, the regional government shall also provide health facilities and supporting health workers, as well as activate COVID-19 handling posts at provincial, regency/city, district, urban village/village, hamlet/neighborhood association levels.
Safrizal also stated that the regional government is also advised to supervise and enforce health protocols to the community in a persuasive and sympathetic manner. One way, he said, is by not setting up a tent to watch the race together outside the circuit, so as to prevent crowds.
He also expressed hope that the province’s officials from governor to regents/mayors will continue to establish intensive coordination and synergy with the provincial and regency/city Regional Leadership Coordination Forums (Forkopimda) to make the event a success.
