President Jokowi Continues his Working Visit to Belgium
After finishing several agenda in the United Kingdom (UK), President Joko Jokowi Widodo continued his working visit to Belgium. Presidential Aircraft carried the President and his entourage took off on Wednesday (20/4) at 05.00 p.m. local time.
President Jokowi and his entourages departure from London was assisted by Indonesian Ambassador to the United Kingdom Rizal Sukma, British Ambassador to Indonesia Moazzam Malik, and Defense Attaché Rui Duarte. Several agenda that were conducted in Presidents working visit in London, were among others:
- Meeting with International Finance Institutions;
- Meeting with Prime Minister of the UK David Cameron;
- Delivering a speech before the International Maritime Organization (IMO);
- Delivering a speech before the Parliament;
- Having an amicable gathering with Indonesian citizens living in the UK;
- Having a roundtable meeting with the CEOs;
- Attending Indonesia- the UK Business Forum;
- Observing Fenwick; and
- Observing Queen Elizabeth Olympics Park.
Previously, Indonesian Minister of Foreign Affairs said that both countries leaders had a long discussion on counter extremism and terrorism issues.
According to the Minister, in the meeting with President Jokowi, Prime Minister Cameron gave his credit to Indonesia for countering terrorism and extremism with its own character, as the largest Muslim population country and also a democratic, plural, and tolerance country.
In this kind of society, the Minister added, it will create political stability and excellent economic development. So, Indonesia is a laboratory that is watched by other countries and considered as an asset because there are not many countries having this kind of asset. The message is very clear, the Minister explained.
The Minister asserted that the President always says that Indonesia is ready to contribute. Thus, we will increase our role in supporting the worlds effort to fight against extremism and terrorism, the Minister said on Wednesday (20/4) morning. (UN/EN) (RAS/MMB/YM/Naster)
