Indonesia-Malaysia Relations More than Diplomatic Relations: Malaysian PM
Prime Minister of Malaysia Anwar Ibrahim Monday (01/09) said that relations between Indonesia and Malaysia are more than diplomatic relations.
According to him, Indonesia has a special place in his heart.
The statement was delivered by the Prime Minister during the joint press statement with President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo at Bogor Presidential Palace in West Java province.
“I have learned a lot from [Indonesia],” the Prime Minister said.
He added that Malaysia will also carry out downstreaming and digitalization that Indonesia has done to boost the economic growth in his country.
The Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim also expressed support for the development of Nusantara Capital City (IKN) considering that the development will provide great benefit for both Indonesia and Malaysia.
“Thus, we can make a positive approach to find solutions so that the IKN can also provide benefits for the neighboring Malaysia’s Sarawak and Sabah regions,” he said.
Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim went on to say that he was pleased that Indonesia was the first country he visited following his inauguration as Malaysian Prime Minister.
In the meantime, President Jokowi said he was pleased at Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s courtesy call.
“Malaysia is not only a close neighboring country of Indonesia, but we are two neighboring nations with a very strong relations,” the President remarked. (FID/RSF/UN) (AP/HD/EP)
