President Jokowi Meets Students of Manado in Bunaken

Upon arrival at the Bunaken Island Pier in Manado city, North Sulawesi province, President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Friday (01/20) met hundreds of students from local elementary, junior high, and senior high schools.

The students welcomed the President with a singing performance of “Kota Manado yang Kucintai” (My beloved City of Manado) which tells the story of the love of the people of Manado for their city.

On this occasion, the President also had a conversation and took pictures with the students.

Afterward, the President inspected the Bunaken tourism area which famous for its marine park and the surrounding homestays. Two homestays, namely Tuna Fish and Cape of Sand, were directly visited by the President.

On a separate occasion, the homestay owners expressed their gratitude for the Government’s assistance in building and transforming their homes into lodgings. They expressed hope that in the near future, they can receive overnight tourists as the surrounding tourist spots have also begun to operate post-pandemic.

After inspecting the Bunaken, President Jokowi and his entourage returned to downtown Manado using the Ultimate Victory Motorboat. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat/AIT) (FI/MMB)
