Press Statement of President of the Republic of Indonesia after Inspection of Evacuation Shelter at Cugenang District in Cianjur Regency, West Java Province, November 24, 2022
President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo
Today, I visited Cugenang district because this is the very epicentrum and this is the most affected area. The most damaged houses are here. The number of casualties here is also the highest.
Earlier, I also visited hospital. Previously, there were 741 patients at hospital in Cianjur. Now there are only 24 patients because most of them are referred to Jakarta and Bandung and others are allowed to go home.
After the evacuation process and logistic distribution to all affected locations are completed, the most important thing is the rehabilitation for heavily damaged, moderately damaged, and lightly damaged houses.
As I said on last Tuesday (11/22), Rp50 million for heavily damaged houses, Rp25 million for moderately damaged houses, while Rp10 million for lightly damaged houses. That concludes my statement.

Mr. President, will the housing rehabilitation be directly carried out by the Government or the cash assistance be handed over to people?
President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo
There will be several schemes. There will be a scheme from Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing, a scheme assisted by the Indonesian National Defense Force, or we hand over directly to the people if it can accelerate the process. We will not only focus on one scheme. Thank you. (AP/HD/EP)
